Located very near Tachikawa station, which is very active. The gym was pretty nice and even had free‑weight barbells. The ambience is uniquely old‑school, which I enjoyed. One of the night staff members who wasn’t Japanese (at least not fully) was nice and spoke great English, perhaps an American; she took the time to explain some things I missed during my initial check‑in. You always have to take the elevator to the lobby when leaving or coming back in to drop off or pick up your shoes. You can also only get to your dorm by elevator, so coming in or leaving can get tedious. There were cameras everywhere, even in the bathrooms and the public bath changing room, which felt a little invasive. My bed sheet had some blood spots on it. Staff didn’t seem too warm to me by the second day I was there for some reason and they stopped greeting me; I understand some Japanese, and it sounded like they were gossiping right in front of me while I was waiting by the elevator one time. You can’t bring food or drinks from outside in. I brought a water bottle in once, and a staff member made me either drink it in front of him or throw it out. There are numerous vending machines throughout the building and they also serve food, so it’s not too bad but still restrictive. The elevator floor was dirty, and sometimes you might have to be barefoot in it since the slippers they give you are shared and others may take them.

“遅い時間にチェックイン出来る駅近の避難所”

Being able to check in late was a real help and the large communal bath saved the day, yet even after turning on the ventilation the capsule stayed uncomfortably hot—probably because it was sealed too tightly.
