The location, sauna, and breakfast were all great, but there was no tea or coffee in the room, the bed was narrow (1:40), and the food was quite pricey.

The staff were very friendly, the new sauna house was beautiful, and the breakfast was sensational; the restaurant was exceptional and well‑made, and the place was very quiet. However, the house itself did not match the price level in terms of cleanliness and the age of the rooms, especially the bathrooms; compared to other 4‑star hotels it can’t keep up or is overpriced; unfortunately the prices, especially at the restaurant, are not consistently transparent, so there can be hidden surprises, which the house and especially the kitchen do not need.

This is one of those truly special hotels that are becoming rare: the staff are nice and family‑friendly, the food is delicious, the terrace is fantastic, the Moorsee is only a few steps away, and I’ve loved it for almost 20 years. The only downsides were that we were only there for a week, that I couldn’t eat and drink all day, and that I can’t think of anything I didn’t like.

The young, friendly lady at reception and the gorgeous view were the highlights of our stay. For the price of 530 € for the “Suite” one would expect a bit more comfort and friendly service. The room: the “large double bed” was 160 cm wide, so how big is a small one? The safe in the wardrobe was not secured; a six‑year‑old could have taken it. There was no place to store suitcases except on the floor. If you wanted to sit in the room there was a wooden stool and a basket chair. In a divided room there was an extremely uncomfortable folding couch and a miniserver mounted too high, pre‑programmed to a stiff neck. In the hallway bathroom there was no place to keep personal toiletries such as a toothbrush. The tub served as a shower, but there was no grab bar to safely exit the tub. No coffee machine, no fridge in the room! The restaurant was actually the main reason for our trip. On the terrace, sitting in the sun, we could order two drinks; ordering a third was impossible after two attempts. The breakfast buffet was somewhat monotonous: sausages rolled in bacon, cooked ham, and one type of sliced cheese. Yes, muesli and yogurt, and on two of the four days also fruit. A promising breakfast menu for various wonderful egg dishes, but unfortunately, except on our departure day, they always arrived cold at the table. It was not crowded. We ate with at most two other guests each day, and the service was not very friendly. In the evening we could only get a three‑course menu. This was not mentioned when we booked the restaurant with three tables. As a big exception, we were allowed, with triple emphasis on the exception, to eat only the main course. The herbs and the braised roast were burnt; apparently they were put under the salamander to grill the pimentos. Not enjoyable. I had to wait for my beer until the main course, despite asking three times.

The breakfast was incredibly good and varied (with coffee from a portafilter machine) and the lunch and dinner cuisine was very, very good! The staff were super friendly and warm. The location was top and the idyllic bathing trail to Goldegger See was lovely. Around Goldegg there were many options for hiking and cycling. The hotel itself has a lot of charm and invites you to unwind and relax. The only issue was that the hot water and the shower water pressure could be improved. The staff were very eager to fix the problem. Based on the pictures and the price you would expect somewhat more modern rooms and better bathroom equipment.
