Hotel Marco Polo, a budget-friendly boutique in Hamburg, sits two minutes from Wandsbeker Chaussee’s shopping and dining, and a short walk to the port, Alster lake, and Rathaus. The newly renovated villa hosts tranquil, en‑suite rooms and a garden with loungers. A 100‑meter walk reaches U‑Bahn, S‑Bahn, and a major bus terminal.

The location is good, but it feels a bit old.

The hotel is close to the U- and S-Bahn as well as the market in Wandsbek, and it was clean with very friendly staff. However, I wondered why it’s called a hotel instead of a pension, since there’s no lift and the stairs are worn out like the rest of the furnishings (for example, a very wobbly wardrobe). Slippery toilet seats and a very high shower entrance without a grab bar are not helpful; it’s neither senior‑friendly nor accessible for people with disabilities. The advertised breakfast times also didn’t match up.

The location was good, but the place had a stale smell, was very worn out and dirty. The bed frame was filthy, the sofa was grimy and covered with a wool blanket.

The location was fine, but the building was old, in need of renovation, and unsanitary (the trash can was full of cigarette butts). There was no breakfast and no elevator.

There was nothing positive to mention. Everything was dirty: the beds were moldy, the bathroom was smelly, the floor was dirty when you entered the hotel, and the rooms had a strong, stale odor. The rooms were overly staged and completely dark. Old mattresses were stained endlessly, the bedding and pillows smelled bad, and even for a single night it was not recommended. The receipt was not printed even after multiple requests.
