The hostel was a letdown. It was advertised near Darjeeling Railway Station but was actually far downhill, making it hard to find with luggage. I called twice and nobody came to help, not even the manager. I had to find it myself. In other hostels, even when the location was tough, the hosts met guests outside or drove to pick them up. The hospitality difference was huge. After I arrived, the washroom flush was broken, so I had to stay another hotel to freshen up. Basic info like breakfast, soap, washroom facilities, and procedures were unclear. The hostel was poorly maintained: dim lighting, a fungal smell from the bed, almost no water pressure, and no lockers. The Nepali staff were polite, but the manager was strange and unprofessional, irritated when I raised concerns. At night he shouted loudly, apparently drunk, making bizarre comments about weapons and “how things work in UP.” The noise was enough to give me a headache. The property needs major improvements in location info, guest communication, maintenance, and management. I would not recommend it as it stands.

The hotel is in the city center and convenient. The staff were friendly and helpful. I liked the futon, and the power outlet and lighting by the pillow worked well. I just got lost the first time I tried to get there.

I stayed there for a solo trip to Darjeeling for three days. The staff felt more like friends. The location is great, offering Kanchenjunga views on clear days. I highly recommend it; it’s also very budget‑friendly.

I’ve been there twice; it’s clean, nice, quiet, well equipped, and well decorated. The staff are extremely kind and attentive. I would recommend it and plan to return. Everything is excellent, though there’s no breakfast, but the staff will arrange delivery of whatever you want. The terrace overlooks the city and nearby mountains.
