If you enjoy a beachfront stay, surfing, and the calm, relaxed island vibe, this is the spot for you. I had a fantastic time there and Miyagi San welcomed me wonderfully; one night we ended up drinking sake and laughing. I’d love to return! The only downside is that you need a car or a taxi to get there, which might actually be a benefit.

I slept soundly right in front of the beach, listening to the waves. I was supposed to take a surfing lesson, but all the shops were booked, so the owner helped with wave information, board rental, and lessons—really appreciated. The downside is that it’s a bit far from the city center, so if you need to buy more things it might feel inconvenient.

We had a great time right by the sea, a wonderful host, and comfortable beds with a sea view. For surfing you don’t have to go far.
