The rural setting was great and the property felt earthy, more like a backpacker hostel; however, the strong Christian theme was a bit off‑putting, it seemed a little overpriced, and the breakfast offered didn’t suit my taste – I’d rather have paid less and arranged my own meals.

The location was convenient and the staff were available to help with a reservation issue, but I wasn’t expecting shared bathrooms; although the three baths and three showers worked out okay with the other residents and our travel timing, one needs to understand the setting when booking.

The breakfast offered a nice range of simple healthy snacks, and I appreciated having my own cabinet with separate plates, bowls, and utensils. Watching Haleakala while brewing coffee was a treat, and the bathroom and shower area were well stocked and kept very clean, with extra shampoo and toothpaste available for those who forget to bring their own. I’ve stayed here multiple times because it offers the best value and never disappoints, though I do think it’s time to upgrade to softer towels.
