“I would recommend to NOT stay here – please reconsider! A disappointment!”
There’s a tiny shop on the first floor, but locals seemed a bit hostile toward foreigners, and the owners appear to be trying. The village itself is quite picturesque. The phone number on the Booking confirmation was correct and worked for the husband; I had to call in an emergency—see below. Two buildings make up the complex: the main house where the family likely lives, and a second building that hosts a kitchen on the first floor and rooms on the second floor. I stayed in a room on the second floor. The whole place is cheaply built, with cheap and dated fixtures that are definitely not safe—an EUROREMONT‑style place. Overall, this was the worst spot I stayed at during my three weeks in Armenia, a confusing and stressful environment. I parked on the unpaved side street shown on the map, entered through the side door, and the hostess looked very confused when I showed her my Booking reservation. She seemed unsure but led me upstairs to my room. After settling in, I tried to lock the door from the inside for the night; it was very hard, and the inside knob fell off! I was locked in the second‑floor room of the separate building with no way to get out. I was alone and couldn’t call the family because they wouldn’t hear me. Thankfully the phone number on the Booking confirmation was correct, so I called and explained in Russian what happened. They called a locksmith, who, to his credit, arrived quickly and drilled the door knob out. I finally escaped and was moved to a neighboring room, but I was worried all night and couldn’t wait to leave. The bathroom is a simple, smelly toilet with a shower and no water guard, so you’ll experience water splashing on the floor. Later that night a group of rowdy, loud tourists came and had a barbecue in the first‑floor kitchen. The main metal entrance door slams so hard that it shakes the building when opened or closed. The door to my room was so loose that I had to stuff toilet paper under it to prevent it from slamming against the frame when the kitchen door was slammed. There’s no soundproofing, making it hard to sleep. I woke up early and escaped before dawn. I doubt the owners speak much English, if any. Thankfully I speak Russian and could communicate in this emergency situation.
