“Unacceptable and Catastrophic”
Nothing positive. Upon arriving we immediately noticed a large event taking place on the premises. The event was extremely loud, and the singing and music could be heard clearly even from our room on an upper floor. At about 11:00 PM we went to the reception desk to ask when the event was expected to finish, as it was impossible to sleep because of the noise. After some difficulty, we were told it would probably end around midnight, although the staff could not give us a definite answer. I find it unacceptable that an accommodation could hold such a loud event late into the night without warning guests. Had we been informed in advance that an event with loud music would run until late at night, we would not have booked. The staff made no meaningful attempt to resolve the situation; they simply acknowledged that the event was taking place and expected us to accept the disturbance. We paid for accommodation with the reasonable expectation that we would be able to rest after an exhausting day of sightseeing. Because of the excessive noise, this was not possible, meaning the accommodation failed to provide one of the most basic services for which we had paid. Additionally, the rooms weren't cleaned—dust was visible on the floor, plaster in the bathroom was falling off, there was a huge crack in the bathroom door, and other guests' fingerprints were on the cabinets. The breakfast was meager, and even the bread served was moldy.
