Hotel Porta Cité has a stylish, elegant look that mixes modern and warm touches; the rooms are spacious, feature a comfortable sitting area, free Wi‑Fi, good beds, and a flatscreen TV. The Italian restaurant‑bar is a real asset: the buffet breakfast is excellent and the atmosphere is refined and cozy. The location is also perfect, just a short walk from Maasmechelen Village, the Cultural Centre, and with free parking right at the door. The only downside is that the hotel sits on a roundabout, so light traffic noise might disturb light sleepers depending on the room, though we didn’t notice it. Breakfast is great, but because non‑hotel guests can also eat there, it can get crowded; sometimes we felt there might not be a spot for us, even though we were hotel guests who had booked breakfast.
