“A cosy little gem”

I booked the private single room with en suite, a very cosy little room with aircon and a discreet sliding door onto the patio for a breath of fresh air, and the bed was perfectly comfy. Everything you could need was there, the place was quiet, check‑in was excellent and the communication was great. The only downside was that it’s a bit far from a metro stop if you have a lot of bags and don’t want to use another form of public transport, but there is a bus stop right outside.

The place was easy to find and well located, with plenty of walking distance nearby. Check‑in was simple and hassle‑free, and you could leave your bags before checking in if you arrived early. I had no contact with the staff except via WhatsApp before arrival. The room’s cleanliness was very disappointing, especially the bathroom which was in an unacceptable state: there were obvious dirt deposits, limescale and rust on the lower edge of the shower and the radiator. The rest of the room also looked untidy. The fridge interior wasn’t wiped down and the bathroom door handle felt dirty and sticky. Moreover, the rooms were very noisy; we heard nothing from the street itself, but we could hear other guests. Whenever someone was showering or flushing the toilet, we heard it in our room, and when people walked through the stairwell or slammed the door downstairs, it was loud. The host can’t control what the guests do, but it still bothered us.
