The room matched the photos: very nice and carefully arranged, equipped with all comforts and spotless. The beds were excellent, and the kitchenette had a fridge with drinks for a small fee and a bottle of house wine, which I appreciated. The location is ideal if you want a weekend in Valkenburg and Maastricht, because you’re right there, and the view is fantastic. The owners are very kind. We chose this place for several reasons: free parking, garden, terrace, and privacy. Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed. Parking was not possible due to a new road surface; this was communicated a day before, but it would have been better to know before booking. With a red code (warm) you have to carry your stuff about 300 m and hope you don’t forget anything, which was a bit less convenient. That’s out of our control, so it’s not the owners’ fault. The beautiful garden shown in the photos is actually only visible from the view; it’s not accessible to guests, which we had expected and was one reason for staying here. The terrace is cozy and covered, but smoking isn’t allowed there, and that wasn’t mentioned anywhere except for the room itself, which is logical. We always book a space with a balcony/terrace for this “unhealthy” reason. Where was smoking allowed? On the road, on the remaining sidewalk from the roadworks, in the blazing sun. It may not be understood by everyone, but if that’s part of your daily routine, it’s annoying. If you’re hoping for privacy, this may not be the ideal spot. The terrace borders the owners’ garden, separated by a small fence. They live above, and unfortunately we could hear every footstep. If all these points had been clear in the description, we would have looked elsewhere, especially if you’re booking without kids. Assuming this would have been a 10 for us, unfortunately it’s an 8 because of these reasons.
