“Staff needs training”
The men on the floor – cleaners, runners, bellboys – were very helpful and tried hard to make up for the bad service and bad hotel. From the moment we arrived, the front desk receptionist was unfriendly and alone, handling all guests. We checked in, received only one room card for four guests, and were told there was no parking near the hotel. No assistance or advice was offered. The Google Maps location for Capital Guest hotel was wrong, and I’m not sure if it’s a different hotel with the same name. When we entered the room, the bathroom was tiny and the shower was over the toilet; the photos were misleading. We asked for a new room, the receptionist was again unfriendly, and a man who assists guests with bags and cleaning helped us. He inspected the bathroom, said he’d return in 5 minutes, and after about 30 minutes he brought us a new room. The new room had the same bathroom layout but was a bit more spacious and had a shower screen, though the drain was on the opposite side so water splashed everywhere. I know this is normal in KSA, but it should be shown clearly in the photos. We accepted the new room, the man said he didn’t bring a room card and we could get one later at reception. We left for umrah and when we returned, a new receptionist was there. We asked her for a room card, she couldn’t speak a word of English, was very frustrated, and kept sucking her teeth with every interaction. This was very frustrating for us; we were exhausted and just wanted to sleep after performing umrah. I opened my Google Translate app to help, but she didn’t want to interact that way.
