The property is stunning, tastefully decorated and feels like Sicily. The staff are kind, helpful and knowledgeable. Meeting Marilù Terrasi, tasting her cooking and her amazing couscous was unforgettable.

The terrace view was great. That said, we usually prefer simple family hotels in Italy, but this stay was disappointing and definitely not worth the summer room rates. The staff were neither unpleasant nor welcoming, just a bit helpless. Some were nice, but I’m not sure if they’re genuinely happy working there. The “don’t” rules sign in the bedroom felt like a welcome pack. The beds were old and uncomfortable. The bedroom fridge didn’t work; a staff member claimed it was functional when we asked him to check, but it was only lit when the door opened and the inside temperature was 20 °C. Pool opening times and the requirement to wear caps were annoying. We didn’t even go to the pool in the full summer heat. Dinner was okay but not impressive. The worst was the lack of soundproofing; we almost lived with our neighbors whether they were in the next room or in the hallway. Because of all this, we cut our stay to 3 days (out of 5) without requesting a refund, since we had paid in advance. When we told reception we would leave the next day sometime in the PM, their only reply was, “ok, let me check if you can have a late checkout.”

The view was beautiful and unbeatable. The accommodations were a bit uncomfortable; the bed was not comfortable. The breakfast area had a lovely view but we couldn’t enjoy it because of bees, and only a few staff spoke English.

The location and view at breakfast were exceptional. The staff were not unfriendly, but also not particularly friendly; a few smiles or extra words wouldn’t hurt. The mattress was really uncomfortable, causing back pain upon waking, and it seemed rather worn and dated.
