The location, the host’s friendliness, the hotel’s folklore… everything for a great New Year’s Eve. For those who want quiet, the location won’t suit you, but we loved it!

The location was great, staff friendly. Hard to find because the name changed; had to walk past it about 10 times.

I didn’t like it at all, won’t return. The second‑floor bed was terrible—no spring mattress, it felt like a spring that bounces and drops, no clean bedding, the room was dirty, the bathroom was filthy, and the second‑floor wood was fragile and could break.

The staff were fantastically friendly and even paid for my ice when I needed it to help with a wound. Check‑in was quick and easy. I booked a room in an 8‑bed mixed dorm but ended up with the whole room to myself all night, and I was insanely close to the full moon party, which turned out to be very useful. Lots to like about the hostel. I liked that towels and blankets were folded and ready on each bed, and curtains blocked off the beds for privacy were a nice touch. The beds were rough; the lower bunks were cooler because they sit lower, but the beds were super hard and you could feel the springs. The upper beds were better, with less spring feel, but they were very firm and warmer because they sit higher. There was no sink in the bathroom, so I had to use the shower head for things that would have been easier with a sink (washing hands, brushing teeth).

The location, that’s it. This was the most expensive hostel we have stayed in while travelling Southeast Asia, and by far the very worst. We asked the staff to turn down the AC at least five times, yet they acted all confused and never turned it down, or pretended as if they were going to try and never did. The mattresses were rock solid, there were ants everywhere, the curtains were completely sheer, and there was no hand soap to be found. Also, there were huge garbage cans in the showers so you could not open the door completely, the water was freezing cold… absolutely horrible stay
