At first I felt positive: the garden was beautiful, the spot was convenient, and the owners welcomed us warmly. Yet I feel compelled to speak up because the positives had drawn me here. The owners told us we’d receive a “free upgrade” to a room that was still being cleaned. Inside, it looked like a standard fan room without air conditioning, nothing like the upgraded rooms advertised online. The real problem surfaced when we tried to shower: turning on the water heater caused an electric shock at the faucet, a serious safety hazard. Water and electricity together are dangerous, and faulty wiring can lead to severe injury. We told the owners immediately; they advised us not to use the heater while it was on, or to heat the water first, then turn the heater off before showering. A technician would inspect it, but we were no longer comfortable using the heater and took cold showers instead. I don’t know if the owners were aware of the issue beforehand, but if they were, the room should not have been given to guests until repaired. If they weren’t, the property needs far more thorough electrical and safety checks.

Without a doubt, this was the best experience we’ve had in Zanzibar; we’ve stayed on every coast from budget to luxury, and this stay was so amazing we extended it. The hosts go the extra mile to ensure everything is perfect and super comfortable.

The breakfast was actually pretty good, and the proximity to the sea was a big plus. However, the rooms were a bit of a letdown - the windows looked out onto the kitchen, the water often didn't work, and the room itself was tiny, measuring only 3x3 meters. The bathroom was also pretty rough around the edges.

The hotel's location is fantastic, and the outdoor atmosphere is really nice. The staff were also super friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast was good too. To be honest, we didn't have any major complaints - everything was just fine.
