“Could be a lot better if some simple amenities were provided.”

The location was decent, tucked out in the countryside, and the building itself felt pleasant with no parking hassles. The host spoke English, which was a nice bonus. We came with bento meals, but there was no microwave or fridge to keep them fresh or chill the beer; a communal fridge and microwave in the hallway would have been useful. The room (standard double) lacked a chair, so we had to sit on the edge of the bed for evening downtime. There was no kettle, not even a communal one, so we requested a hot water flask from reception in the evening to brew tea. We also discovered that towels weren’t provided in the ensuite or the communal bathroom—towels were listed as extra fees on the booking, an unusual omission since other places always include them as an essential service. The property has an onsite restaurant, perhaps implying guests should dine there instead of bringing bento, which explains the lack of fridge or microwave. This setup might suit some travelers.

The atmosphere was calm, the dining room felt luxurious and the food was tasty; the facilities were simple but fully adequate. Unfortunately the room got hot and I ended up sweating through the night.

The parking lot was spacious and just a short walk from the entrance, which was very convenient. However, the place was swarmed with stink bugs in both the lobby and the corridors, the staff were unfriendly, and I will never stay there again.
