“Great hostel with good amenities, great location, friendly staff.”
The hostel is great and well situated in Asakusa – about a 15‑minute walk to Ueno Station, close to Senso‑ji, and a half‑hour walk from Tokyo Skytree. A supermarket (My Basket) is just a few minutes away. The area is quiet. Staff are very friendly and chatty, always ready to help. The shared kitchen at reception is superb, stocked with pots, plates, utensils, glasses, a microwave, a bread toaster oven, a kettle, oil, spices, sauces, instant coffee, tea bags, a fridge, etc. The room also has a small fridge. A shared washer and dryer are available for about 500 yen. The bathroom provides body soap, shampoo, conditioner, a toothbrush, and a small toothpaste. Rooms were quiet but the shared spaces had a lively atmosphere with tables and games. The 5th‑floor room lacked airflow on hot days, so I slept poorly. The AC was noisy and ineffective; it worked better when outside temperatures dropped in the second half of October. We would have liked more towels (only one large and one small per person). The room is very small – bringing more than one large suitcase makes it hard to move. The beds and pillows felt too firm, though that’s subjective.
