I had an outstanding experience at this hotel; the interior was beautifully renovated, full of history and character, and the room itself was excellent. The restaurant was fantastic, a real delight to eat at, and I hope it will soon appear in the Gaultmillau guide – definitely try the menu if you stay. However, anyone with disability issues should know there is no lift – the building is a historic former courthouse and a lift was not permitted. The staff were extremely helpful, carrying our very heavy suitcase for us.

Across from the hotel was a parking space where you can park for free at night. The old hotel is pretty, well renovated, and there is no lift, so being able to climb stairs is a must.

The bed was comfortable and the surroundings were quiet. Breakfast was good, with a nice selection of products, but it was a shame there was no butter on the first morning; after I asked, butter was brought when I finished my breakfast. My room was on a higher floor with no lift, so I had to climb about 80 steps. The lights turn on automatically, but in a few spots they come on a bit late, making it hard to safely go up or down the stairs. The soap bottle in the shower was empty, and it wasn’t refilled the next day either. There was no place in the shower to put anything; you can only put things on the floor. The rain shower was large, but what came out was more like a light drizzle. The faucet at the sink was installed so that when you wash your hands, the water runs over the sink instead of into it. On the hallway I ran into the chef, who had a strong scent of eau de toilette around him – that doesn’t seem right when you’re preparing food.

The building’s beauty and the staff were great, but the room service left something to be desired.

The hotel staff were lovely, very helpful and informed me about the city; I’ll definitely return. Parking is just across from the hotel.
