Park Side Hotel Tsalka

We were welcomed warmly; the hotel sits in a quiet spot, with large rooms that are simply furnished, though the lighting could be better thought out. Downstairs is a cozy area by a fireplace. Parking is convenient and the homemade wine is tasty.

“A lovely stay after a difficult day”

While heading to Vardzia we had an accident and ended up in Tsalka overnight, and the Park Side Hotel saved the day. The staff were warm and sympathetic, served homemade wine, and the room was spotless with cotton sheets and a balcony overlooking the street. The owner helped with our luggage, arranged a replacement car, and gave solid travel tips. Nothing to note otherwise.

The room was large, and the owner sincerely apologized and offered a bottle of homemade wine, but he wasn’t present at the hotel when we wanted to see Dashbashy Gorge as planned. In the morning we were locked in like prisoners, the phone went unanswered, and we had to consider leaving through a window—an annoying issue I’d never encountered before.

The hotel had many thoughtful little touches; the owner and family were lovely, and the dinner was fantastic—we couldn’t finish it! It featured small plates of local specialties, grilled meat, and complimentary wine. Breakfast was equally great, with superb butter, fruit, omelet, tomato, cucumber, olives, and a range of teas. I’d give the owners a big hug; we felt like family.
