“Loved the feel of the hotel, European but with Minnesota nice”

The spot felt like Italy, and bartender Justin was super friendly, whipping up a great old fashioned. Everyone else on staff was kind and respectful, and the room was spotless with all the usual amenities. I only wish they'd mentioned the pull‑down shades on the windows when we checked in; we didn’t realize it until the second night, so the first evening we had to open the windows and hang our coats to block the light.

“Quirky, friendly, good breakfast and location”

I liked the location and the quirky vibe that hinted the building once belonged to a church. My room was clean, the space was used efficiently, the bathroom was nice, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was simple but tasty, and I was close to the light rail and bus lines (like the 63). However, room 104 on the ground floor was noisy: an air shaft, constant light, motor hum, and trash crashing into the dumpster. The window only opened a few inches for ventilation. They added blackout shades and frosted glass, but I still didn’t sleep well; I should have asked if another room was available.

“Loved it, and would return”

The overall vibe of the place stood out. I booked it for a coworker and myself because of my interest in history, historic buildings, and ghosts, plus the good value. Breakfast was a small but ample buffet in the old sanctuary. The manager at the desk was wonderful—when my flight was delayed and I missed the first night, I called and she ensured the rest of my stay wouldn’t be cancelled. Her service was efficient, friendly, and personal, and she was just as pleasant in person. The room and bath were comfortable, and I’d definitely return when I’m in St. Paul. The only suggestion is to keep the beautiful bar open a bit longer, maybe until 9 or 10, though I understand the low guest numbers. The bar was pretty full when last call was at 8 or 8:30, and we were happy to catch a nightcap in the vintage first‑floor setting.
