“While it may seem off the beaten path, it is a very convenient place to stay.”
I liked the one‑bedroom I stayed in because it had lots of windows and was very well laid out. Since this was my second visit to the Beekman, I appreciated the front desk staff who kindly held onto one of my bags between stays, which was very helpful. When I first stayed there, I was worried about getting around the city from 49th and 1st, but the subway was a 10‑minute walk and I could reach Greenwich Village in 20‑30 minutes, which was very convenient. The Wi‑Fi on my first visit (August 6‑20) decreased in effectiveness in the evenings for some reason, but on my second visit it was much better.
“Fantastic place to stay.”
The room was fantastic, presented beautifully with views over the east river, and the location was great—just a 15‑minute walk from Grand Central, giving easy access to everything. The kitchen workspace felt a bit cramped, but that wasn’t a real problem.
“Classic pre-war art deco building with amazing views, well supplied kitchen and laundry room and staff who are both frie”
The view was amazing, the price was reasonable, and the staff were very helpful. Due to the design of the windows, it was difficult for the outsides of the windows to be fully cleaned, which slightly affected the view.
The location is very good and easy to reach other places in New York, and there are many restaurants, cafés, and grocery stores nearby. The room is also big enough, the kitchen is okay, and we got a room with a sofa, which was very nice. Housekeeping was only done after 10 days (previously it was every 7 days) and only after we requested several times, but that isn’t really a problem because I can get a supply of fresh towels and toilet paper easily. The big problem is the Wi‑Fi connection is really, really bad; I can’t get the TV working because Wi‑Fi is very slow, and the mobile phone connection can’t rely on Wi‑Fi.
“A great location for NY and I would stay here again!”
The front desk staff were friendly and extremely helpful, which I really appreciated. I stayed in a studio that was comfortable and had everything I needed, and the building’s washer/dryer was a nice bonus. The housekeeping ladies were also friendly and efficient. The Wi‑Fi, especially in the evenings, was really subpar; it fluctuated so much that I ended up using my own broadband via a hotspot. My room was long and narrow with only one window, making it quite dark.
