Everyone on the staff was very welcoming, especially Mirko who was always ready with the information we needed; the hotel is close to the centre, the beaches and the saltworks.

Everything felt like a unique island combined with the Romagnol hospitality of the manager; highly recommended, with no negatives.

Everything was exceptional: breakfast, dinner, the people, the service, and especially Mirko with his smile, availability, and advice. I want to go back just to see you again :D

Big Game is a pleasant place with very capable and friendly staff, charming décor, and a very clean environment. It sits on the main street of Porto Ingles (also called Vila de Maio), the main town on the island of Maio, where several restaurants and shops line the street and it ends at a park overlooking the beach, making everything within easy walking distance. The restaurant at Big Game is very good, though pricey compared to other venues. My room (11) was spacious and had an extra bedroom that I didn’t use; it also featured a small balcony overlooking the back of the property with no interesting view. The furniture was minimal, with only one dining‑style chair and a cabinet for a small refrigerator and TV. The staff were fantastic, especially Mirko, who is extremely friendly and genuinely cares about all guests. The hotel rents quads and cars; I rented a quad for a day and he provided a suggested itinerary on a map, which was perfect. I really liked the place. However, Big Game is probably the best hotel in Porto Ingles but also the most expensive, so it should offer a more generous feel in some areas. It should make guests feel they’re getting more value. Breakfast is not very impressive—a small selection of items, one jam, two kinds of bread, etc. You get an egg that they will cook however you want. Milk isn’t on the buffet, so you must ask for it. You receive only one coffee, and you have to pay if you want more; this should change. The most expensive hotel in town should offer a second cappuccino without extra cost. The room is also very basic; although I had a very large room, it had no table other than a nightstand and only one hard dining‑style chair. Finally, the public area of the hotel—essentially the restaurant—closes from noon to five or six every day, which is inconvenient for many reasons. For most of the day, the only accessible part of the hotel is the stairwell and guest rooms, with a separate entrance.
