“Nice hotel but don't get a basement room”

The hotel’s location was good, a boutique feel, and tram stop 14 took us straight to the town centre. The room was well decorated and the bed was comfy. We arrived late for check‑in; even though we had let the hotel know our arrival time, we were given a basement room that was dark and had no window view. We raised the issue and were told the hotel was fully booked. That wasn’t the room we had booked. The staff suggested we try again in the morning when guests were checking out. We went back the next day to complain because we would never have booked a hotel if we knew we’d be put in the basement. After standing our ground, they moved us to the newer part of the hotel and handed us the room we had booked online. The rest of the stay went smoothly.
