“Restorative peace near magnificent National Trust garden and yes Shakespeare.”
The house itself, the comfort of the room, the view, the quiet, the books in the room, and the breakfast from local suppliers were outstanding. The service was friendly and helpful, and the quick return of a left‑behind item was an unexpected bonus—the hosts were super responsive. Their AI voicemail system was an experience in itself as we drove home; it completely “understood” our lost property issue. We plan to return to revisit the National Trust Hidcote garden, just 10 minutes away, and relax all day there with coffee, books, a rug, and food. We ate at Aladdin’s, 10 minutes north, for an exceptionally good Indian dining experience in terms of food, service, setting, and price. For those interested, Shakespeare’s birthplace and Anne Hathaway’s Cottage in Stratford are much more interesting and informative than we expected. Mr Odie’s coffee shop near the birthplace was also a great experience with gentle lounge jazz playing. There is nothing I can think of that could be done better; it achieves what it sets out to achieve very well.
The location is perfect for viewing nearby villages and the larger city, Stratford-upon-Avon. The hospitality and friendliness were evident from the start, giving a true bed‑and‑breakfast feel. However, more attention could be paid to cleaning the rooms and common areas.
“Very comfortable room and space. Loved the country feel and how quiet it was”
Quaint and quiet. Nothing
“Reasonable accommodation in an expensive area; a few fixes would make it a more pleasant lodging”
Out in the country, the historic house offers lovely views, though the interior looks a bit shabby and the electrical outlets/cords need work – it’s hard to tell how to turn on/off different lights and the hot pot extension cord set up is a mess. Breakfast is fair, the staff are friendly but they didn’t engage in any conversation.
The garden view room was lovely, clean and comfortable, with good facilities including tea and coffee with a sofa and a nice en suite. We were greeted with a pot of tea and some ginger cake, and breakfast was really good.
