The hotel is stunning and Japanese‑styled, full of locals, and exudes a relaxed, well‑crafted atmosphere; the room is beautiful, the amenities are excellent, and the breakfast is truly good and plentiful. We were very satisfied with the central location, the entire staff, and the hotel itself—after spending 12 days in Japan and visiting three cities, this was the best hotel we stayed at.

The rooms are relatively large, you can buy food outside and have a nice spot in the lobby to sit and eat, but it lacks coffee services that other Japanese hotels offer, and the breakfast is a bit odd—you must choose one of four options instead of a buffet.

“Gut bis auf Frühstück und Checkin”

The location and cleanliness were solid, but the check‑in took forever because the process was clunky. Breakfast offered only four menus, and only the main item—like a Croque Monsieur—really varied; the rest of the plate stayed the same. Most of the sides were canned (carrot salad, mushrooms, mandarins). If you’re trying to avoid food waste, this approach is counter‑productive; a small, well‑curated buffet would let you pick exactly what you want on your plate.

Overall everything was fine, the room was spacious and clean by Japanese standards, and there were four breakfast options each day, though they repeated the same dishes daily. The only downside was that the hotel windows face a cemetery, and even though you booked breakfast, kids weren’t offered any; we had to share the food, even though “Joe doesn’t share food” (ost Friends).
