This was my first solo trip to South Africa since my husband left exactly a year ago, and Cami and Sue welcomed me warmly and were incredibly helpful, making me feel at home, loved and relaxed; Cami even prepared both boiled and fried eggs for breakfast, and I caught a glimpse of her partner as well. I stayed in a safe, quiet neighbourhood in a tidy, comfortable accommodation with a wonderfully large bed, and I even bought an extra sweater at the nearby shopping mall for the chilly winter nights—back home it’s summer with occasional heatwaves. The weather in Pinelands was pleasant and sunny, and I didn’t rent a car because traffic there, like in the UK, drives on the “wrong” side and would have made me nervous, so I relied on taxis for longer trips to Table Mountain, the Zeitz MOCAA museum and the botanical garden in Kirstenbosch. The country is beautiful, rich in history and full of wonderful people, and I truly enjoyed my time. The wooden front door of my studio had a wide gap at the bottom that let cold air in at night in winter, but electric heating and an extra blanket kept me warm.

Cami, the owner, is absolutely the best—very friendly and helpful. The accommodation is very peaceful and relaxing, with a great location. It’s central to the shops and the airport. I love my stay at Beulah Lodge.

Pinelands is always a convenient place to stay! It’s quiet and has everything you need, all of which are operational.
