“Unattentive owner”
I didn’t end up staying because of reception difficulties and missing amenities; I still saw the room and could imagine a stay – the location was great, the building design was rustic and great, the bathroom was modern, the kitchen looked good, and the bedroom seemed fine. Service was terrible: the owner was friendly but seemed to care very little about reasonable service; instead of greeting me in person, I was told everything over the phone—key collection, room location, etc. After I had clear trouble and a language barrier, he came out to show me in person (his home is on site) and then left for his home on the floor below. I caught up to ask about Wi‑Fi, he said he would text me the code and went back to his home. It turned out there was no Wi‑Fi in the guest house. He claimed he didn’t know why it was down and would try to fix it the next day, but I was only staying the night. Because of this, I had to explain I couldn’t stay and would need to find another place. He simply apologized, shut the door to his room after asking me to leave the keys where I had found them. He was just as uncaring or bothered when I first arrived. The whole ordeal felt uncomfortable, rushed, and I felt like an inconvenience to his day. The fact that most of the check‑in and Wi‑Fi struggle was attempted over the phone rather than in person left a negative feeling. Ultimately, the service was poor, not professional or attentive, but the man wasn’t unkind. I’m sure under other circumstances and a more attentive manner, the time there would have been really nice.
