Located in central Bratislava, under the Castle and 200 metres from the Presidential Palace and Old Town, Garni Hotel Virgo offers free Wi-Fi. This historical building features Baroque-style rooms and large apartments with kitchenettes, flat-screen satellite TVs, and no elevator. Private parking is available on site for a fee, and free maps and city guides are provided at the reception, located at Panenká 5, 80 meters away.

Only the location mattered. I slipped twice on the building’s narrow stairs. The interior was basic. The reception was far from the rooms. Plugs were oddly placed; I had to move the kettle to the head unit because there was no outlet where it originally sat. The biggest problem was no hot water for three nights. On the first night I was too tired to go to reception. On the second night I told them, but they didn’t even change my room. On the third day they fixed the hot water, but the hand tap didn’t work, so I couldn’t shower—unacceptable!

Cleanliness was spot on. The bathroom lacked support handles, especially for older people. The breakfast was good, but there were very few fruit options.

Well situated, great bike storage, tasty breakfast, easy check‑in just a few doors up, clean, safe, quiet and comfy. Nothing to nitpick.

The English self‑check‑in instructions were unclear. It should have said reception is in one building while the room is across the street, and the safe’s location was not obvious at all.
