“Such a Disappointing Stay We Cancelled the Second Night.”
The view from the terrace was nice, but Casa Olivia was a real disappointment! We definitely didn’t get any bang for our buck! We were expecting something so much nicer staying in the Troodos Mountains. We arrived at 16:00 (4pm). There was no one on site to receive us. But we did get an email with a lot of instructions on how to check in… The code for the room which they told us would be ours didn’t work. I saw someone who was cleaning one of the rooms and asked her what was wrong and she said it wasn’t the right room. I told her it was the room they wrote and told me but she insisted I was wrong! She then opened a door to a different room. At 9:00pm once we’re settled in she came by and said she had made a mistake and we were in the wrong room and needed to change. We told her that we’re not changing since it was late and we had unpacked. The room itself is dark and had a strange and pungent smell. I think it came from the wooden ceiling. The A/C didn’t work and the woman in charge didn’t know how to operate it. There was no hot water late at night or early in the morning so I couldn’t shower. This is unacceptable in a hotel that is charging €200 a night! Although we booked for two nights we decided to leave in the morning as we found the place depressing. The breakfast was very poor and frugal! With just two slices of bread – a slice of bread each! This is a place that doesn’t have shops or restaurants nearby. On top of that she came back to tell us the two eggs were raw and we needed to cook them! She also told us that her manager who is in Limasol and not on site said we had to change rooms as someone had booked that room. We told her we were checking out anyway. Not only was this unpleasant but there were loads of feral cats that kept trying to come into the room to keep warm. It was very sad to see them.
