The bar staff were great, and the hotel offered plenty of space to relax, but the room needed a deep clean; while surfaces were tidy, the couch was musty and the tops of shelves and other spots were dusty.

Our room was fantastic—spotlessly clean with cute décor, and the bed and pillows were the most comfortable we’d had on this trip. We loved the complimentary specialty coffees, and the staff were very friendly, giving solid downtown dining tips. Black Mountain itself is wonderful, and we wished we could stay longer. The only downside was that we lived everything!

Getting there was easy, and the bedroom, living room, and bathroom were very clean; we appreciated the snacks and complimentary coffee. However, Room 203 had a lingering scent that made me think someone had smoked or vaped there before us, possibly through the vents.

The place was beautiful and cozy, and the coffee shop/bar felt like it could be straight out of a TV show—awesome. The only drawback was that the restaurant we usually visit was closed on Sunday, but that’s not their fault.

The location was awesome, and I loved having an evening cocktail before heading upstairs to retire for the night; the decor was eclectic and gave off a historic vibe, but the parking was a bit tight and events on the property caused some anxiety about losing or finding a spot when returning to the hotel.
