Ella Repose

The house really impressed us, with a beautiful view of the mountains and tea plantations, and it’s located a distance from Ella, which was a big plus for us because we love a quiet retreat where no one disturbs us. We’re about 5 minutes by transport to the town, so it’s handy, and parking is next to the house. The terrace is comfortable; we ate breakfast there, and in the evenings we just relaxed with drinks. The kitchen is small but you can warm tea or heat food. Breakfast was tasty, and the host serves it at a prearranged time that’s convenient for you. The room is spacious, clean, and has everything needed. The shower has hot water (you just have to wait a bit for the cold to pass). All in all, we liked everything, thanks!

“Idyllische Hütte auf dem Hügel”

It was really nice to be perched on the top of a hill overlooking Little Adam's Peak and Ella Rock, with an unobstructed view into a small tea plantation. The veranda is great for relaxing, and the surroundings are super quiet—perfect for escaping the tourist bustle in Ella. The host, who lives a bit down the hill, is very helpful. The room is large, the bed is big, and the shower is spacious. The breakfast on the veranda is tasty and varied. A neutral note: a new house is being built 20 m next door; the construction didn’t bother us, but it’s worth mentioning. The house is a bit outside Ella, so renting a scooter right away is advisable—it’s much cheaper than using tuk‑tuks. The tuk‑tuk drivers in Ella can sometimes be rude and greedy. During our 4‑day stay the room wasn’t cleaned (trash, bed, towels)… that’s apparently somewhat common in Sri Lanka, but still unpleasant. The host arranged two transport options (a tuk‑tuk to the area and a taxi to Mirissa), both were too expensive; it’s better to arrange transport elsewhere.
