The English interior is nice and really beautiful, but contact was very difficult and unfriendly.

The spot right by the canal is great, and the breakfast is wonderful, but the room has no air conditioning.

The B&B/hotel on the Vecht looks a bit like an English gentlemen's club with its original décor; from the stylish garden you can watch passing boats from a covered terrace, which really adds value, plus a large conservatory where a good breakfast is served at a fair price, including fresh‑pressed orange juice. The staff are friendly and will cook eggs to your liking. The atmospheric attic room is fully furnished and has a Nespresso machine on the minibar. The air conditioning was already on, which was very considerate, and there are no extra luxuries needed in hot weather. There are four tilt‑windows that can open; traffic is audible but not disruptive, unless you’re bothered by the quacking ducks. The toilet is outside the room, which is a relief because there’s no other attic room, and bathrobes hang nearby. The shower is good in the clean bathroom. Parking is on the premises, and the station Breukelen is close, where you can park for free for day trips to Amsterdam or Utrecht. The stair to the attic is steep.

The historic building has a great vibe, the bed is lovely, and the staff are friendly, but there’s no air conditioning so the room gets very hot.
