“Authentic and personal”

This is civilized camping, not glamping. It’s an authentic Berber experience. Moha, the host, was incredibly hospitable. We stayed two nights, including a fantastic camel sunset ride and a full day 4×4 tour with lunch at a Berber family’s home, visiting cultural sites. The camp food was excellent, and the experience far exceeded our expectations. We did extensive research before choosing this camp, and we couldn’t have picked a better one. The camp sits at the base of one of the largest dunes and is closer to the dunes than most camps. It’s also smaller than many commercial camps, offering authenticity and more privacy. No negatives.

“Camp a’ l abandon , dommage!”

The spot was great, and I picked this small camp for that reason, but it also had good ratings, and I don’t understand those ratings ???? A big shout‑out to the cook. The tents get very hot during the day and very cold at night. The washroom is awful. The dining area is dirty and still has dusty Christmas decorations. There isn’t any shade: there’s a rusted gazebo in the center of the camp that could just be covered with a white sheet to shield us from the sun, but to protect ourselves from the sun we have to stand right against the tent’s wall. The lanterns outside are wired with exposed wires and the tools are left in place rusted, and at night only two camp lanterns are lit.

“Camp a l abandon très peu soigné”

It’s nice that it’s in front of the dune and a small camp with few tents. It feels abandoned: the tent is hot during the day and cold at night, the bathroom is deplorable, and there’s no hot water. There’s no shade spot even though there’s a rusted gazebo that could be covered with a clear tent canvas; outside the lanterns have open electrical housings with a broken turn‑off switch left on site, and the dining area is untidy with dusty Christmas decorations still hanging. After the 4/4 that let us leave earlier than expected, we stayed all morning waiting to walk for sunset, using a board against the wall for shade, which was a real disappointment because it could have been good, but apparently the camp chief does nothing to improve the situation. Please drop the word “deluxe” from your camp’s name! On the bright side, the cook gets a bonus.

Always seeing a beautiful desert, no one else around, and the staff were friendly, always offering tea. The host, Asif, was always concerned and reassuring. It was the best experience ever. It might have been nice to have more variety in the cuisine, but it was a good experience to be able to eat traditional Berber food.

Kindness, cordiality, a very small camp that’s extremely welcoming with Moha and his staff who are extremely kind and helpful. A New Year’s night of fun with a great dinner, fire, music, and Berber dancing. Thank you all for the wonderful evening.
