Scandic Sønderborg

The location is great with lovely views from the rooms, yet there is no staff or service at all. It feels more like a hostel than a hotel. We were assigned “handicap‑friendly” rooms on the 3rd floor without an elevator, then moved to a ground‑floor room that had damp problems. The hotel refused to fix it, implying we were “B‑customers” because we booked through a third‑party. The rooms were large with good views but not cozy and not worth the price. Breakfast was okay, nothing more.

Breakfast was excellent, but the rooms are rather small, and the bathroom fixtures look old and poorly maintained.

The room was dirty, with popcorn under the bed, a pill on one mattress so the bedding didn’t look changed, a glass/can on the table, spider webbing, crumbs on the wall, and staff shouting in the hallway early in the morning. The receptionist’s only comment on the mess was “noted.”
