“Nice place”
The view of the birds. Breakfast ended already at 9 AM, which made it difficult to have a full morning of birdwatching before breakfast 😢

The lodge sits beside the wetlands and next to a traditional Lao village, which is fascinating. The room was very comfortable, and the restaurant offered great, value‑priced food that was freshly prepared to order. The staff were very helpful, and I enjoyed a boat trip on the wetlands one afternoon. However, the wetlands are now more threatened than when the lodge was first built, and the environment is no longer as unspoiled as it once was. The property clearly needs better maintenance; the swimming pool area is neglected, with broken tiles and unsafe decking. The hot water, powered by solar panels, doesn’t provide enough pressure for a warm shower. We learned that the hotel is now owned by an absent landlord who lives abroad and has never visited the property, which is evident. This place urgently needs care and maintenance, otherwise it will fail to meet expectations.

The setting, with buffaloes and marsh birds, the quiet of the place, the bungalow and the sunrises, the staff’s kindness, and the food, all made for a wonderful stay. A visit to Mt Phou Asa, a canoe walk with the fishermen, and a dawn stroll to watch nature and birds—everything was organized from the Lodge. Nothing to criticize.

The bungalow in the natural surroundings, the staff’s friendliness, and the view were highlights. The only drawback was that breakfast and meals took about 30–40 minutes, and the location is fairly isolated, which makes traveling a bit more difficult.

It was a privilege to stay in this lovely place on the edge of a local village, making it easy to explore the area. Food was freshly prepared and tasty—especially the papaya salad, which made your mouth sing on a hot day. The staff were lovely and always ready to help. The location overlooking the wetlands was fabulous, and I’m not sure who was more surprised in the mornings—us or the water buffalo! We took a wooden canoe across the wetlands with the local boatmen. There’s no real dislike, but it might feel a bit out of the way for some. We stayed 5 nights and relaxed into the slow pace after Saigon city. The ride from the main road was a bit bumpy and jumpy, but it was short‑lived and worth it.
