“Location is really good and easy to get around. I recommend.”
I was visiting the area for the first time and the reviews talked about many French visitors, but during my stay there was only one French person, essentially another tourist; I met dozens of others, which made it clear that people come from all over and it’s easy to chat and make friends in the communal lounge. The great thing is that everyone helps each other settle into a new place while you’re there, which is easier than figuring it out alone. Most people speak a language you probably know, like English, and I met many who spoke local languages such as Japanese, Korean, or Chinese. It’s still okay if you’re traveling solo; you’ll need local help sometimes, and it helps to talk to someone who can figure things out if neither of you is from there. The sleeping arrangements were simple, and people respected privacy in their rooms. It’s a place to sleep, eat, or rest from the summer heat in Korea, where I was staying during record temperatures, and there were plenty of AC units in use at the time. I haven’t been there in winter, so I don’t know how that feels. The staff were very kind. Hongdae is great, but the weekend never stops, and I learned that Korean people hardly can digest their beer.
