For those satisfied with a simple hotel near Bayreuth, this place fits the bill; everything needed is available and the breakfast is acceptable, though the coffee quality at breakfast varies.

“Appalling hygiene, hostile staff, avoid at all costs.”

I found nothing to like about this stay and checked out the next morning because the conditions were unacceptable. The hygiene was utterly unacceptable: on Friday evening I discovered the room uncleaned, with stained towels (lipstick/blood) and dried urine on the toilet; the reception was closed, so I had to clean the toilet myself. Breakfast the next morning was very poor—no buffet, just a pre‑set table with two bread rolls, an apple, and a few cold cuts under a plastic cover. When I politely reported the dirty room to the only staff member present and asked for fresh towels, she reacted unprofessionally and yelled at me. We then verbally agreed that I would pay for the first night and cancel the rest of the stay.

“Ein Gasthaus, dass keine Gäste will.”

Nothing. The beds were fine. The host was extremely unfriendly. The place was cold, only accessible through a back entrance; the main entrance was never open. No restaurant. The lounge was blandly furnished, where you could take a beer from the fridge. Very bitter. Uncomfortable is an understatement. Never again!
