The sheets were covered in hair that looked like pubic hair, and there were stink bugs in the room. The floor wasn’t swept—hair, toenails, and Doritos were scattered everywhere. The countertops still had a cup mark from the previous guest, and the TV was broken with fuzzy channels and lines across the screen. The bathtub looked dingy.

The price was great for a short stay, cheap and cheerful, and it had everything we needed. It’s not luxury, but you’re not paying for luxury. It does exactly what it advertises. The window faced the car park and the curtains wouldn’t open, so the room was quite dark. There was a strong bleach smell when I first arrived, probably from the cleaning.

The value and proximity to the freeway were fine, but the cleaning‑supplies smell was VERY strong and noxious, giving me a huge headache and ruining my sleep. No one at the front desk helped.
