We stayed at Schwarzwald Tanne for the second time, enjoyed a hearty breakfast buffet and tasty dishes at the restaurant, and would give it a solid 10 out of 10.

The kitchen met all expectations in the evening, tasty food served quickly, great value for money; the Gasthof is in a quiet spot with a green backdrop of the Black Forest and centrally located for many outings, though Schönwald feels a bit deserted in summer. The breakfast buffet was already a bit sparse from the start, requiring constant restocking of basics like boiled eggs, raw ham, sandwiches, and croissants; it was replenished but still seemed under‑stocked for the number of guests. The room with a large double bed and balcony was bright and comfortable, though the main pillow was too flat for us. The host did not explain the benefits of the guest card, such as free public transport during our stay, which was a shortcoming; fortunately we got the needed info in Triberg and could use a free train ride to Freiburg.

The room was very clean, breakfast was excellent with a wide variety (boiled eggs, cold cuts, cheeses, cereals, breads, jams) and all items were good; we recommend dining at the hotel, the hosts were very nice and helpful and did everything to help us communicate.
