Red River Retreat

A brand‑new resort just outside Kohora gate, its fresh facilities and gorgeous lawns set a great tone. The room was spacious, tastefully decorated, and came with all the essentials, plus a balcony that offered a lovely view. The staff were warm and friendly, and the resort’s soft lighting paired with evening Bollywood instrumental music added to the vibe. The food was fantastic; breakfast dishes and the Assamese thali were delicious, the thali being surprisingly large for one person. Overall, the stay was very pleasant and I’d recommend it to anyone heading to Kaziranga, though the price felt a bit high.

“RRR...a nice retreat for holiday!!”

I enjoyed a pleasant stay at RRR with my daughter and two grandsons, and the natural scenery was truly enjoyable. My grandsons loved the swimming pool. The dining room was too far from my room, so I couldn’t go for breakfast as a senior person.

The resort was neat, clean, and well laid out—an excellent addition to Kaziranga. Nothing else to note.

“Poor experience”

The location was fine, but my experience at Red River Retreat Kaziranga was extremely disappointing. We booked a specific room online, yet upon arrival were handed a completely different one. When we asked for the room we paid for, the staff said it was “full” and offered no accountability, solution, or effort to fix the mistake. The swimming pool had no staff assistance, the bathrooms were poorly maintained with no floaters or basic kid facilities, and after hours of waiting no staff appeared to help. The worst part was the attitude: instead of admitting their shortcomings, they added unnecessary charges, such as ₹5000 for an extra child bed, which felt exploitative. The staff appeared untrained and disorganized, and overall management lacked professionalism. The only positives were the good view and decent food, but the experience was frustrating and not worth the money; definitely not recommended.

“Even though stayed for a night but the experience has been great.”

The location is fantastic, and everything else has been great.
