The location and other guests were fine, and Giselle was a sweetheart, as was Rocky. However, there’s no way to enter the property upon arrival; if the gate is closed, you have to carry your bags down onto the beach and enter that way. Later you discover you need to pick the gate to unlock it (who needs keys, right?). There’s no front desk, which adds to the confusion. The head manager is unfriendly and makes you feel like a burden, only being nice to guests in private rooms, even though a dorm with 10 people pays more overall and often stays longer. The lack of signage for hostel policies and instructions (a normal thing at every other hostel I’ve stayed at) leaves you unsure of the unwritten rules, such as not being able to use the kitchen at certain times. Cleaning was below standard, and the bathroom/toilet always smelled bad and stayed dirty for a few days in a row.
