The owner is very friendly, and the rooms are simple but very clean. The booking showed a breakfast option, but it wasn’t actually available at the lodge; they served a simple fresh coffee as a courtesy for the Booking mistake.

The service was very good from arrival to departure; we were moved to a better room that was available for our dates, and it truly was an upgrade. A piece of stained glass had fallen out during a cold, windy night, and covering the hole resolved the issue—though it was an inconvenience that wasn’t entirely the hotel’s fault, we eventually forgot about it.

I was treated exceptionally well, the staff were friendly and warm. However, the lodge seems to struggle finding staff, so if you’re looking for work in São João Del Rei you might want to apply.
