“We would happily stay here again”
The location was great, the breakfast amazing, and the staff were polite, but the room was small with a tiny window, though still sufficient.
“not great”
The spot is decent, but the room was the hottest I've ever slept in—definitely not for anyone heading there during the warm season. I had arranged to bring my dog, and after confirming it, I was told on arrival that I’d have to pay an extra £50, which was a real let‑down.
The fish and chip shop up the road was available at the last minute, but the small windows made our room feel cramped. Our room wasn’t attached to the hotel, so we had to park elsewhere. Loud music from outside, the lower floor, and next door made it very noisy, and at 2 am guests were having a loud conversation outside our room.
“Pleasant and great food for breakfast.”
The staff were super friendly and helpful, and the rooms did the job for what we needed—nothing fancy, just functional. We arrived late at night and left early the next morning, so a comfortable place to sleep was exactly what we got.
“Ok for 1 night”
It sits right across from the Promenade, but it’s not easy to find because it isn’t called Guest Lodge. The receptionist on duty seemed to need a customer‑care refresher, huffing on the phone when I called for help to get into my room. The instructions to enter the accommodation are out of date; the door instructions differ from how to actually get in. Breakfast was a disaster: plates on the counter were all dirty, and after the fourth one I saw leftovers on it. One waitress carried two slices of bread straight to the kitchen without tongs or gloves, touching them with her bare hands. I left because I couldn’t risk a cooked breakfast arriving on a dirty plate or on items touched by her bare hands. I usually only complain when it’s unavoidable, so it’s unfortunate this happened. In the room, one cup was dirty, as were the glasses.
