The host was really engaging and answered all my questions, which I appreciated. Unfortunately the kitchen and its utensils were filthy, the bathroom was also dirty, and I had a few safety worries that made me uneasy.

Location couldn't be better – just steps from the supermarket and a bunch of restaurants. However, I booked a single‑bed room and was handed a sofa in the hallway, then asked to pay extra for the actual bed; the bathroom was shared and you had to line up each morning, the room was labeled as a "bunker single" but felt anything but clean, and there was no air‑conditioning, only a small fan.

The staff member went out of his way to sort my payment issue – I couldn't use Alipay, so he let me pay in pounds, which saved me a lot of hassle. He was genuinely kind and helped me out of a tight spot.
