I would strongly advise against staying here if it remains as it is. For the price, you would expect basic cleanliness, which this place really lacked.
The host Ian was incredibly kind and went out of his way to make our stay as relaxing as possible, even offering wine upon arrival and fresh bread and croissants for breakfast. The only downside was the walk down the hill from the ridge, which feels endless despite what the information says.
“Fabulous place to enjoy the peace of nature with delicious additions.”
This unique property offers a range of activities or simply a place to relax and enjoy the special nature the owners are working to restore. The homemade breakfast was delicious and the kitchen was very well equipped. The host was generous, and we enjoyed local wine, a fire in our room, and the hot tub. The facilities are a bit tired but clean enough that they didn’t affect our enjoyment.
“Magical”
The room was a quiet, standalone retreat tucked into native bush, offering absolute silence and starry skies. Ian was very hospitable, providing excellent pizzas for dinner and fresh bread and eggs for a lovely breakfast. It’s a great stop on the Queen Charlotte Walk.
The views were stunning and the touches were amazing—Ian left a bottle of wine, made homemade bread and croissants, and brought one of the dogs down to say hi. The stay was relaxing and beautiful; I would have stayed a week if I had more time. The hot tub and outdoor shower were great, and the glamping yurt was warm and spacious. I’ll return!
