The hotel was nice, but the bathroom water was barely lukewarm both that evening and the next morning, and when I mentioned it to the desk clerk he just shrugged it off as a curiosity; the carpet on the stairs to the second floor was visibly dirty with dried mud and dust, as if it hadn’t been vacuumed or steam‑cleaned in ages.
