“Very disappointing”
My husband and I had stayed at Hotel Paesano’s before and liked the restaurant, bar, and atmosphere. We were very disappointed on our last visit because the bar was closed and the restaurant was under renovation, and we weren’t told in advance. We would have booked for another time. The check‑in attendant in September said the manager would call me the next day, but I never received a call to discuss the issue.
“An anniversary trip to forget - Maria was huge letdown and the Hotel Paisano is badly in need of a make over in most are”
Historic and the room was clean but worn out. The front desk lady Saturday was very nice and apologetic. She refunded the night we missed by leaving early. At check in I told the young girl I was looking forward to sleeping in. She put me next to the cleaning closet. Pretty sure they rebuilt a vacuum cleaner before 8am the next morning from all the clanking and banging. Walls very thin - could hear snoring from other side late at night. French doors opened right over 2 dumpsters. Bugs on the door frames to balcony. Elevator broken - not mentioned when I called ahead. Restaurant closed, bar closed at 6 pm, coke machine broken - town closed up - had to drink water in room at 9:30. All the cute shops you see online are just rooms in the lobby with one check out. Found two others in town. Not touristy. Not fun. Never again
“A gem of a hotel with exceptional, understated staff - elegance without appearing to try.”
The staff’s casual yet attentive friendliness matched the hotel’s vibe perfectly; we’d never been to Marfa, yet we felt instantly at home, and the architecture showcased the community’s craft and artistry so well that we wished we’d stayed longer. I’d have preferred a day when the restaurant was open, though the bar remained excellent.
The hotel is period. The bathroom is dated and breakfast is missing.
“Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.”
The hotel didn’t serve breakfast beyond coffee and packaged pastries, and the bathroom fell far short of what I’d expect—no shower curtain, soap in dishes, and the tub fixtures were old and deteriorating.
