“Extremely barebones facilities. Good for a budget stay at the heart of Gion.”
The spot is great, right in the middle of Gion and overlooking the Kamo River, and the beds are comfy. But the hostel itself is super basic—just a bed, a few lockers, no curtains, no shelves, no bedside lamps, just tiny stools and no proper desks or chairs. The common room is cramped and not very welcoming. The staff tried to scan my residence card, which I’m not happy about because that’s not really allowed by Japanese law and they ended up making a copy of my personal info.
