The breakfast was fantastic, the wedding dinner was okay, the staff were friendly, the bed was comfortable. The elevator was broken, the room was a bit dull, it was far from the main building and the gravel road was inconvenient for guests in high heels and the like.

“Charming castle but cold pool and basic rooms”

The castle itself and its surroundings were beautiful, and the drive up felt cinematic. We enjoyed the common areas of the main castle, like the games room and the bar upstairs. Breakfast by the pool under the sunshine was also very nice. Overall it was a pleasant one‑night staycation. However, several aspects could be improved. Even though we paid a lot for our room, it was very basic, lacking slippers, a kettle, or instant coffee. It should also be clearer online that most rooms are not in the main castle but in later outbuildings. The huge outdoor pool was the main reason we booked, and it was indeed delightful to swim, but the water was freezing. I can’t understand why a hotel would have an outdoor pool that isn’t heated. Having lived in the Nordics, I’m used to cold water, but this would be a shock and a deterrent for other guests expecting some heating.

The accommodation was very nice, the pool pleasant and the facilities great. The nature around the hotel was beautiful. The rooms were fine. The staff were unfortunately very inattentive. We were on the terrace for a drink and no one came. After three requests and 25 minutes later we finally received a card. Unfortunately, that continued and even at dinner nothing changed.

The location is absolutely fantastic, with plenty to explore both inside and out, and the pool is wonderful. Breakfast was good and had everything you could need. The rooms were okay but felt very basic for the price. Dinner was decent but not outstanding.
