“食事が満足出来たら最高”

The location, the on‑site hot spring and the room were all good, yet the food left something to be desired and the foreign staff serving it made communication difficult.

The private onsens and the masseuse were excellent, and the staff was outstanding, and the meals were good, but the suite we stayed in had no air‑conditioning, only heating, which made the room uncomfortably warm at night and downright hot when the sun came out (~85 °F in the room despite both curtains being closed and the outside temperature being 72 °F), making it hard to sleep; moreover, the suite description on the booking site implied the private onsen was attached to the room, whereas in reality it is a separate private onsen that must be reserved and is not guaranteed.

The location was great, just a short walk from the main area, but unfortunately, the room was freezing cold. I had to figure out the heating system on my own since there were no instructions, and it was a bit of a challenge. The hot spring was also a letdown - it was lukewarm at best. Still, the location made up for some of the issues.

The modern ryokan's design was a nice touch, but it felt a bit cookie-cutter. The location near the volcano was a major plus, though - the views were stunning. The rooms were clean and comfortable, but lacked a bit of character. Overall, it was a solid choice for a night or two.
